Santa Cruz, Bolivia
Nur University

Full-Circle Learning workshops engaged 60 teachers in Santa Cruz Bolivia in July 2006. The workshops were sponsored by Nur University. Some teachers eagerly came forward to express interest in follow-up activities in the coming year.

The teachers at the training workshops represented schools from preschool through high school throughout the area. New Spanish translations (the training manual, power point presentations, preschool lesson plan manual and early learning literacy series) were completed in time for this event. Two lesson plan manuals for elementary and high school students had already been translated. (Songs are currently being translated.) Terry Vojdani completed the translations in Bolivia and Cherie Moraga and Catalina Ausin supplied additional song lyrics.

The facilitator of the course, Anisa Qualls, graduated from Earlham University in May but is completing her studies with a Latin American Studies fellowship to conduct activities including Full- Circle Learning professional development courses for teachers. She first interned in Los Angeles at the Full-Circle Learning summer school and developed a school program in Santa Cruz, Bolivia at the Cambridge School in 2005. She received hands-on instruction in how to course facilitation in Ohio in the spring of 2006.

She has received praise for her work in Bolivia and throughout South America.
