Monrovia, Liberia - As uncertainty and rumors of war loom across the country as a result of political opposition’s call for protest, to petition their government for growing economic crisis in the county, a lot of people including children, fear that the protest might slide the country into an unrest, thereby destroying the fragile peace that they have all enjoyed after many years of bloody war.

These children in Hangzhou China worked both independently and together to complete their projects.

Creativity, compassion and community service come together in many of the school projects, which value the concept of bonding as a classroom family, a nuclear family and a human family. Below, a girl presents a gift of a painting she has made, freely giving her creativity for a global wisdom exchange.

Nigeria’s newly committed Full-Circle Learning schools have made great strides in a short time.

The fourth grade Heroes class from the Nikkie Foundation petitioned the head of their district's water supplier to provide boreholes.

While waiting for clean water for the community, they taught their science acumen to the people, advocating that they boil water to the proper temperature to sterilize it for safe drinking purposes.

A new summer school in the Gambia helps learners apply their habits-of-heart and conflict resolution skills to address community challenges. In the summer of 2018, the learners role-played a project on empathy, comparing communities with health care services and first aid volunteers and communities with serious illness and no health care services. The learners also examined both sides of labor union conflict to empathize with the results of conflict on communities.

These radiant “stars” learned f...

Christopher Andrews began in his new role as a Full-Circle Learning teacher in the fall of 2018. He chose the Habits-of-Oneness module and planned a highly effective first unit on Awareness.

A habit-of-heart sensory step launches the 13-S Steps of an FCL learning unit, which then flows through processes that integrate the kinesthetic, visual, audio and interpersonal learning modalities, as the students apply academic content toward local and global service-learning goals. The habit-of-heart, in t...

Long-term Full-Circle Learning teachers influence the altruistic development of their global village through the work of their students.

Full-Circle Learning’s 25th anniversary community impact studies offered many examples. Those educators who began their careers as Full-Circle Learning teachers had watched a generation emerge with higher motivation, greater levels of academic achievement and commitment to civic-mindedness than their peers.

For example, Rancho Sespe/Piru’s Sugey Lopez (pictured i...

Teachers in Ghana received Full-Circle Learning capacity-building workshops in November 2018. The African trainers commented, “I must confess that we are a little overwhelmed by the turnout of teachers this time around. We had planned for 50 teachers from four schools, but the turnout for Day 1 was, surprisingly, 78 teachers from five schools. The numbers increased to 90 teachers on Day 2 and 100 on Day 3.

As schools heard about the opportunity to increase teachers’ skills, they flocked to the pr...

... To Renew our Hope in the Future.

All around the world, Full-Circle Learning teachers like Ana Banda give their hearts to unlock the potential of students--not just to develop their own talents but to build, help  and fortify benevolent and resilient citizens throughout our towns and cities.

As a result, just look at what the children have completed in the past month.

They've brought water to the thirsty, food to the hungry, preparation to the fearful, clothing to the homeless, health to...

...to Celebrate Love for the Human Family.

Teachers celebrated the love with a stirring song they wrote a decade ago, Love Brings Us Together. They discussed the role of teacher as altruist and the importance of teaching children how to love through cognitive, creative and process-based strategies.

The ideas sparked at a philosophy conference held this past month at the Greentown Yuhua kindergarten in Hangzhou, China. Demonstrations and descriptions of the Full-Circle Learning strategies appl...

...to Offer the Gift of Self.

Zambian students in the Gifteria School walked the talk. Just one semester after their teachers had studied Full-Circle Learning, they got it.

Lesson plan units centered around Sacrifice, Love or Empathy had given the learners a chance not only to apply those qualities through their coursework and service, but to apply them with one another. Students in various classrooms had worked hard to put into practice the lessons learned. Self-mastery was the hardest test of a...
