Children Advocate Peace in Liberia
A girl named Teeta gave a speech this month advocating unity instead of war. She stands among children calling for peace, love, forgiveness and a smooth transition of power in Liberia’s first democratic election. After 14 years of civil war, the scourge of corruption, Ebola, dire poverty, and hunger, a child's ability to hope confirms the possibility of hope among all humankind. The Full-Circle Learning students from DKM School conducted the service project during a learning unit on "Advocacy." They stood on a busy street corner, singing and reminding community members to act on their convictions. A crowd gathered, feeling newly empowered by the messages of the children. The director of the DKM School, the late Mrs. Awena Dorbor, passed away last summer, but her mission goes on. Scholarships have been created in her name. News of this project reached us on Giving Tuesday. Please help us ensure that young people can go on changing the world. Donate at www.fullcirclelearning.org.
