December 30, 2018 Offer the Gift of Self.

Zambian students in the Gifteria School walked the talk. Just one semester after their teachers had studied Full-Circle Learning, they got it.

Lesson plan units centered around Sacrifice, Love or Empathy had given the learners a chance not only to apply those qualities through their coursework and service, but to apply them with one another. Students in various classrooms had worked hard to put int...

December 30, 2018 Uplift Society.

Many traditions celebrate women who set examples of care for others and devotion to improving the human condition. Girls United Clubs in Zambia and Liberia discussed their progress this month in encouraging peers to upholding such a standard and encouraging their peers to stay in school and learn the many ways in which they can give back to society.

..While Honoring Those Who Feed the Community

Dusty roads lead the way to St. Cecilia's village school and orphanage, in Zambia. Here, some of the children share a cot with the teachers. All appreciate what they have. Elisha, in the red shirt, uses his art as a gift of service, while the preschoolers pictured practiced sharing as a gift of friendship. Each teacher knows how to incorporate the habits-of-heart into academics at Blessed Vale, the school that hosted the community impact studies and training workshops this month in Zambia. The activities brought the number of Zambian Full-Circle Learning-trained schools up to 34.

A teacher knows she has truly taught empathy if her students can  comfort her when her own heart is breaking.

Beauty Nzila, founder of the Blessed Vale School, deeply mourned the passing of her mother this year, so much that she had to take a brief respite from her duties at the school. She thought she would have to bear her burden alone. She did not anticipate that her middle school students would step up to provide the...
